Huge lines for water lined up in Minsk

In search of drinking water, thousands of residents of Minsk went to parks where there is spring water. There lined up, numbering 150,200 people. In the stores of the capital of Belarus there is a hype demand for bottled water. In the Minsk park of the 60th anniversary of the Great October Revolution, where there is a ennobled spring, the queue for water reached 200 people by the evening of June 24. Numerous lines of hundreds and dozens of people lined up in other places in three districts of Minsk, where there are problems with drinking water. There are very few columns left in the capital of Belarus where you can get water suitable for drinking and cooking. The problem with the deterioration of water quality was recorded in the morning of June 24. Residents of the city complain of a bad smell and burning when water enters the skin and mucous membrane. The Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Minsk City Executive Committee and the municipal services of the city were first silent for a long time. Then official assurances began to be received in the absence of serious problems and the imminent normalization of water quality. At the same time, officials recommended restricting the use of water from the city water supply. Public utilities through the state media issued a statement that, according to the main indicators, the quality of tap water in Minsk meets sanitary standards. UP Minskvodokanal reported on the correction of the situation and the supply of water in tanks at about two dozen addresses, which is clearly not enough for a two million city. By midnight, the situation in the city had not improved significantly. Tap water still has a very strong smell of faeces or ammonia with chlorine.
