Iran and Russia discuss the development of scientific cooperation
On September 23, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali and Special Assistant to the President of Russia for Scientific and Technical Policy, Secretary of the Council for Science and Education Andrei Fursenko discussed issues of scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA on September 24. During the meeting, Jalali mentioned the holding of several rounds of meetings of vaccine and drug committees between the ministries of health and institutions of the two countries, expressing the hope that Iranian and Russian research institutes will soon begin cooperation in the production of COVID-19 vaccine. Fursenko, for his part, touched on the current state of production of a vaccine called Sputnik V, saying that the drug was registered about a month ago, and its practical use began two weeks ago in Moscow. Russia is negotiating with some countries to supply Russian vaccine for coronavirus infection. The country recently reached an agreement with India to sell 100 million drugs by the end of 2020, he said.
