In Moldova, due to the pandemic, events for Independence Day were canceled
The decision to cancel the festive events dedicated to the Independence Day of Moldova, due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection, was made by the country's authorities. This was announced on July 27 at a briefing by Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Kiku. We discussed the national holidays that are celebrated in Moldova at the end of August, this year, of course, we will not be able to hold these events with the participation of the population, Kiku said. He also noted that in this regard, more cultural events will be broadcast on television in the country. At the same time, at the end of August, Moldova celebrates three holidays at the republican level on August 24, the anniversary of the liberation of Moldova from Nazism, August 27, Independence Day of the Republic, and August 31, National Mother Tongue Day. Note, as reported by the news agency, on July 24, the Moldovan government decided to extend the state of emergency in the country in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. To date, a total of 23,034 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been detected in the republic with 735 deaths from COVID-19 and related consequences.
