250 million seedlings planted in northern India

About 250 million tree seedlings were planted by residents of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on the first day of the traditional week of Van Mahotsav, the Associated Press reported. Indian authorities believe that such actions are a contribution to global climate change. In particular, India plans to preserve a third of its territory in forest cover. More than 2 million people took part in the action, all of them tried to observe a safe distance. In five years, we will increase the forest cover of Uttar Pradesh to 15% of the total land area, said Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath.
