Montenegrin doctors agree with SPC to suspend protest marches


Chief Medical Officer of Montenegro Boban Mugoša reported at a press conference on the epidemiological situation on June 26 that doctors had a conversation with representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, where an agreement was reached to suspend protest marches against the law on religious freedom. A day earlier, church and political meetings were banned in the country by decision of the authorities for reasons of epidemiological risk. The measures were met by the opposition as a political step in order to suppress protest election activity. Recall that parliamentary and local elections in Montenegro are scheduled for August 30, 2020. However, the number of coronavirus infections in Montenegro is growing rapidly and cases are detected in clean areas. Two municipalities had to introduce strict restrictive measures. In Montenegro, on June 26, 15 infected people were identified and the number of active cases was already 115 people. 18 patients COVID-19 hospitalized, one person is connected to an IVL apparatus. The most cases were recorded in the municipality of Rojae in the north of the country.
