In winter 2020, Russian paratroopers made more than 31,000 jumps
More than 31 thousand parachute jumps and more than 100 40 of equipment and cargo were carried out during the winter period of 2020 by soldiers of the Airborne Troops (VVV) of Russia. On May 5 the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reports about it. It is noted that the level of tension of combat training of VVV personnel in 2020 was five percent higher than in the same period of training in 2019. One of the most significant achievements of this year is the group landing of VVV personnel, which was carried out for the first time in the world in the Arctic from the height of 10,000, which used special parachute systems, oxygen equipment and navigation instruments. A record jump was made by Russian soldiers to Alexandra Island on Franz Joseph's Land Archipelago, where they were taken to the landing site by a Russian military transport aircraft Il-76MD, which crossed more than 1,500 kilometers after taking off from Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region. During the summer training period, it is planned to conduct tactical and command and staff exercises of various levels, in which mass landing of VVV personnel and equipment will be carried out. Earlier, the American portal The Drive published an article called Russian Special Forces jump from 33,000 feet above the Arctic in unprecedented exercises.
