Japan to cover costs associated with moving Olympic Games to Tokyo

The Japanese side will cover the additional costs associated with the transfer of the Olympic Games. This was reported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on April 20. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed that Japan would continue to cover the costs it would have incurred under the terms of the 2020 agreement, the report said. It is noted that the IOC will be responsible for its share of expenses, which will amount to several hundred million dollars. Recall, the Olympic Games in Tokyo were to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. However, the competition was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
